Group Criticizes Northern Political Elites Plotting Against Tinubu in 2027
The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, has raised concerns over a purported plan by a faction of the northern political elites to obstruct President Bola Tinubu’s potential bid for re-election in 2027.
They further claimed that the current unrest and protests in the North are part of a larger scheme to hinder Tinubu’s political ambitions in the upcoming election.
Yerima Shettima, the President General of AYCF, asserted that this alleged plot involves imposing impractical and unreachable standards on the Tinubu administration to discredit it and sway public opinion against the government.
Shettima highlighted that the strategy includes targeting key allies of Tinubu, particularly minister of state defense, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, to weaken his support base in the North.

The AYCF expressed dismay at these actions, labeling them as desperate moves by individuals seeking power to impede the government’s progress and anti-corruption initiatives.
They emphasized that these orchestrated attacks on Tinubu’s allies are part of a broader agenda to destabilize the administration and hinder his chances of securing a second term in 2027.
The AYCF cautioned against premature efforts by anti-Tinubu factions, warning against the dissemination of false information and the utilization of obscure groups to undermine the President’s allies and tarnish his reputation.
In conclusion, the AYCF urged President Tinubu and his team to remain steadfast and vigilant in their dedication to the nation’s advancement, advising the President to be cautious of propaganda campaigns aimed at undermining his administration and to stay focused on fulfilling his commitments to the Nigerian populace.
