The governors of the 36 states have asked Godwin Emefiele, who is in charge of the Central Bank of Nigeria, to explain the withdrawal policy and the new naira notes.
The Nigeria Governors’ Forum, which represents the governors, said on Tuesday that the scheduled meeting would take place on Thursday through its spokesperson, Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo.
Under the CBN’s naira redesign program, which was implemented in October 2022, Nigerians were instructed to deposit their old notes in banks by January 31, 2023.
The NGF’s Director General, Asishana Okauru, was mentioned as the person in charge of the virtual meeting. The spokesperson said that the meeting would focus on the latest withdrawal policy from the apex bank and the redesign of the currency.
