Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has called on political figures to eschew anti-democratic inclinations and dedicate themselves to advancing democracy and civic engagement.

Sani made the request in a statement that was uploaded on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday. He said that all Nigerians must strive tirelessly to fortify the institutions tasked with advancing and defending the nation’s democracy.

“Political actors, particularly those tasked with governing, need to remember that this democracy will only mean something to the people if we take poverty, unemployment, and food security head-on,” the governor stated.

“It is due to this realisation that our administration has been pro-people and development oriented since the beginning of our government in May 2023.

“We are dedicated to helping Kaduna State’s impoverished, weak, and underprivileged people.

“We are reviving education to guarantee children from disadvantaged backgrounds in Kaduna State have access to a high-quality, reasonably priced education.”

“We are promoting agriculture by consistently supplying smallholder farmers and small-scale agro-processors with agricultural inputs and equipment,” he continued.

He said that the state government is boosting the economy by supporting Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Businesses and that it has increased the Rural Transformation Drive, which aims to combat poverty, revive rural economies, and close the gap between rural and urban areas.

“Yes, we are bringing the people and development closer together. We consult the public in all that we do, soliciting their opinions and incorporating them into our projects, policies, and programmes. Since we work as their servants, we have a constant duty to answer to them,” he declared.
