Abia State Governor Alex Otti declared on Friday that the N25 million bounty on the heads of the five soldiers who were killed at Obikabia Junction in Aba has been raised to N30 million.

When Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff, visited Otti in Nvosi, the state’s Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, Otti made the announcement.

Remember that five soldiers were slain by gunmen at the Obikabia crossroads in Aba on May 30.

The governor stated that an additional N5 million contributed by a state native who is based in the United States of America made the bounty increase essential.

“It’s interesting to note that the government put up a N25 million bounty, and yesterday, an Abia son who resides in the United States and is also from Obingwa paid us N5 million to raise the bounty to N30 million.

“To encourage anyone that will have useful information that will lead to the apprehension of the criminals, I am happy to announce that the bounty has just been upgraded to N30 million,” he stated.

Otti went on to say that in order to make sure that similar tragedies never occurred in the state again, the state government had also begun collaborating with the security authorities.

He declared that in order to keep the state safe and secure, the government has been working nonstop.

We would also want to express our gratitude to the DSS intelligence service, which sent a number of agents to assist us in solving this case.

“We have a very clear focus on it. The governor declared, “We have to find them and make sure they understand that this is not a place where terrorists, assassins, kidnappers, or other lawbreakers should be found.”
