The governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, pledged on Wednesday to include sufficient funding for education in the state budget.
The vow was made by the governor at the state capital of Gusau’s 23rd Zamfara College of Arts and Science, or ZACAS, matriculation ceremony.
The School of Science and Technology, Legal Studies, School of Art and Humanities, School of Mass Communication and Information, and School of Preliminary Studies are all part of ZACAS, according to a statement from the governor’s spokeswoman, Sulaiman Bala Idris.
“The matriculation ceremony marked the ushering in of newly admitted 2,369 students for the institution’s 2023–2024 academic session,” the announcement said in part.
“The governor claimed that the institution’s long history of producing a sizable number of graduates speaks loudly about how well the College performs its duties.
According to the Social Development Goals for education, the governor promised to offer all Zamfara State inhabitants with inclusive, high-quality education, regardless of their social background.
“He expressed his respect for the College’s outstanding efforts in giving young people opportunity and promised that his administration will deal with issues tertiary schools face, such as money, laboratories, affiliation, accreditation, and institutional structure modifications.
Governor Lawal reaffirmed his intention to make significant investments in modernising the infrastructure and other teaching instruments at all tertiary institutions as part of his administration’s commitment to emphasising education.
Dr. Yakubu Sani, Provost of the Zamfara College of Arts and Science (ZACAS), had earlier praised the governor for giving out the most scholarships during the previous ten years.
“The provost acknowledged that over the past ten years, the governor has annually provided scholarships to more than 200 ZACAS students from personal funds,” the statement continued.
