Governor of Cross River pledges compensation for stolen jewellery- Mayorkun

Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has pledged to reimburse musician Mayorkun for his misplaced goods in Calabar.

Mayorkun, one of the performers chosen to play at the 2023 Calabar Carnival, reportedly claimed to have misplaced jewellery valued at millions of naira, according to Obasanjo News24.

The artist promised not to perform in Calabar again, expressing his displeasure in a post on social media.

A few hours later, musician Iyanya declared that one of Mayorkun’s stolen diamond chains had been found.

But Mayorkun disclosed in a follow-up post on his official X that he just met with Governor Otu, who promised to reimburse him for the goods he misplaced in Calabar.

“Just met with H.E. Prince Bassey Otu, the governor of Cross River State,” he wrote. He reassured me that the people of Calabar are still quite friendly and emphasised that I will receive payment for any stolen belongings.

“I’m grateful, sir. I’m still looking for my pendant. I love it so much for a lot of reasons,” he continued.
