In order to look into allegations of financial impropriety at two government-owned higher education institutions, Jigawa State Governor Mallam Umar Namadi has formed committees.
Jigawa State Polytechnic Dutse and Jigawa State College of Education and Legal Studies Ringim are the institutes.
Prof. Haruna Abdullahi Birniwa, a former commissioner for education, serves as the panel’s chairman. Nura Muhammad Ubayi, the director of establishment and head of service, serves as the panel’s secretary.
Prof. Dalha Waziri is the chairman and Harisu Garba is the secretary of the committee tasked with looking into the College of Education and Legal Studies Ringim.
The two committees’ mandates call for them to examine the academic curricula of the schools to make sure they adhere to best practises and to determine whether or not numerous claims of irregularities against the management of each institution are true.
According to information obtained by OBASANJO NEWS24, the decision to look into the institutions came as a result of a petition regarding the mishandling of Education Trust Fund, or ETF, funds and other irregularities.
However, it was learned that the committees had already started working when the college provosts, registrars, and bursars were suspended.
In response to a related claim, the governor had already established a commission to look into the management of the College of Education in Gumel.
The chief college officers had also been placed on leave by the investigative committee.
