Governor Makinde Appeals to Wike to Avoid Conflict

Governor Makinde pleads with Wike, urging him not to inflame tensions and bring crisis to his state.

Governor Seyi Makinde has appealed to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), not to incite unrest in Oyo State.

A few weeks ago, Wike issued a warning to incite turmoil and create a political crisis in any state whose PDP governors support Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara’s attempt to take control of the party structures there.

On Saturday, September 28, 2024, during a reception organized by the Ijaw World Congress in Port Harcourt for Wike, Makinde made an earnest plea.

Makinde explained that the former governor has performed admirably for both his people and the state, thus earning this honor.

According to his account, “I came to Oyo to show support for my brother and today’s celebrant, Nyesom Wike. When I visited Rivers yesterday (Friday), I informed him that I brought a peace offering because he had been claiming that he would stir up trouble in certain states. My plea was simple: please don’t ignite any conflict in Oyo State.”

“On behalf of my fellow governors and former governors, let me commend you for your excellent work. Since arriving, I’ve noticed the numerous projects completed during your eight-year term as governor.”
