The Oba of Benin has urged newly elected Governor Okpebholo to focus on delivering his campaign promises, stressing the importance of addressing the needs of Edo residents.

Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin, has called upon Edo State Governor-elect Senator Monday Okpebholo to make every effort to fulfill his campaign commitments to the people.

According to reports, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that Senator Monday Okpebholo, a candidate from the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the governorship election held on September 21, 2024.

Okpebholo secured a total of 291,667 votes, surpassing his closest competitor Asue Ighodalo from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 247,566 votes.

The Benin monarch issued the call on Tuesday while hosting governor-elect Dennis Idahosa and his deputy at his palace.
