The governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, announced that the N217,000,000,000 billion budget for the fiscal year 2024 was part of the administration’s plans.

This was revealed by Buni on Tuesday during her presentation of the 2024 Appropriations and Finance Bills to the State House of Assembly.

Known as the “BUDGET OF CONSOLIDATION AND ECONOMIC RECOVERY,” Buni told the legislators that N122,844,000,000, or 56.61% of the budget, is intended for capital expenditures and N94,156,000,000, or 43.39%, is intended for recurrent expenses.

The budget for 2024 is designed to support new initiatives and see existing ones through to completion.

He declared, “Our budget for the year 2024 will prioritise key sectors and programmes that directly impact the lives of our citizens in light of the financial constraints and our commitment to move the state forward.”

The governor highlighted the 2023 budget’s overall performance and stated that as of September 30, 2023, it had succeeded in covering N94,859,528,492 in combined recurrent and capital expenditures, or 58.2%.

“Let me use this occasion to express my gratitude and particular praise to the Yobe State House of Assembly’s leadership and all of its members for their assistance and collaboration.

“The modest achievements recorded by this administration have undoubtedly been aided by the cordial working relationship between the legislative and executive arms of government,” the speaker stated.
