Olayide Adelami, a relative of the late former governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has been picked by Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to serve as his deputy.

In April 2018, Chief Adelami, a native of Owo in the Owo local government area, departed from her position as Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly.
In 2020, Adelami stood for the APC governorship but was forced to drop aside in honour of the late Akeredolu.
In December 1983, he enlisted in the Federal Civil Service as an Accountant II. Later, he was sent to the Treasury Department of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.
