Kajola Market has been ordered to reopen by Osun State Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.

The governor also issued a warning to market participants to refrain from illegal actions that can disturb the community’s calm.

The Governor’s choice was made following the presentation of reports on the ongoing issue and the conclusion of the mediation session presided over by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo.

OBASANJO NEWS24 had reported that Governor Adeleke had last week ordered the Commissioner to intervene and settle disputes from warring factions in the sake of peace in the market, which is located in the state’s Atakunmosa West local government area.

“I am a man of peace and would ensure there is adequate security for the lives and properties of the people, not only in Kajola-Ijesha but also across every nook and cranny of Osun State,” the governor declared.

“It’s time you all put an end to your fighting and make peace. Indiscipline is not something we will tolerate. Anyone seen drumming up violence will be subject to the full force of the law.

“The market is hereby reopened on Saturday, August 12, 2023, without further delay to safeguard the livelihood of citizens, who earn their living by transacting their various businesses in Kajola market.”
