Governor Adeleke and the Osun APC spar at a cabinet meeting

The Ademola Adeleke administration in Osun State has been charged with failing to call a state executive meeting 54 days after the council’s inauguration, according to the All Progressives Congress, or APC.

Additionally, it charged the state government of incompetence and failing to keep the long list of commitments it made to the Osun electorate in the lead-up to the governor’s race.

The Osun APC claimed in a statement signed by its chairman Tajudeen Lawal on Monday that Governor Adeleke’s attempt to hold the first state executive meeting was unsuccessful because his cabinet was formally inaugurated on July 19, 2023.

A democratic state administration refusing to hold executive sessions for approximately two months is odd, the statement reads.

“Governor Adeleke’s laissez-faire style of leadership confirms that he has any concrete plans for the state’s development and is solely drawn to the prestige of the position.

Without attending state executive meetings, Adeleke has been allocating money for the administration of the state.

The Osun APC stated that it was ludicrous for Governor Adeleke to move the Government House to his sister’s house in Ede and that he has shown himself to be an unfit candidate.

It is preposterous that the governor moved the government house and office to his sister’s house in Ede, where he dwells, 10 months after the start of his administration.

He said, “Adeleke pledged to provide White Papers, on some of his rushed judgements through his odious Executive Orders, but to date there has been nothing to that effect.

In response, the State administration claimed that the Osun APC had amnesia through the Governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

Rasheed disclosed that Adegboyega Oyetola, a former governor, convened his first state executive council meeting on November 4, 2019, or over a year after the 2018 governorship election.

“It is therefore probably a loss of memory on the part of the state APC to accuse the present administration of either not holding or not making public the meetings of the state executive council,” he said.

Even while we don’t judge the current administration by its dismal track record, we brought up this blatant lying and forgetfulness to make it easier for the public to recognise the untruth of the hopelessly divided state APC and the incorrigibility of the party leadership.

In front of an extensive and expanded state executive council meeting, the cabinet ministers have been expanding the state sectoral agenda for the past three weeks through intensive brainstorming sessions with the establishment.
