Governmental election: Gunmen burn down the father’s home of Imo PDP candidate
Gunmen destroyed the country home of Ifeanyi Ozoemena, a PDP candidate for the Imo State House of Assembly, as well as that of his father on Tuesday.
The candidate admitted to journalists in Owerri on Wednesday that the assailants had set his and his father’s homes in the state’s Okigwe Local Government Area on fire.
He stated: “On Tuesday, my home and my father’s home were destroyed in Umuokparaoha Village, Umulolo Community, Okigwe Local Government Area, Imo State.”
According to him, the gunmen attacked at roughly 2 PM, lit the homes on fire, and watched them burn.
He said that the two homes and the other properties were destroyed in the attack despite their unimpeded operations.
I’m upset, he declared. Unfortunately, this.
The upset legislator claimed that he had already requested help from the police commissioner.
He added that he was relieved that no one was hurt and expressed regret that his elderly parents were not around when they struck.
It was discovered that the gunmen hurled explosives at the homes as soon as they arrived, and the buildings instantly took fire.
Recall that since 2022, Okigwe LGA has had a high level of instability and criminal activity, which has caused many to leave their homes.

In the same Okigwe LGA, some gunmen destroyed Nnaemeka Obiaraeri’s rural home in February. He was running for the state house of assembly.
Meanwhile, in February, gunmen set fire to Emeka Okoronkwo’s home in the Ihube community of the Okigwe LGA, the state commissioner for youth and sports.
The former information commissioner, Nnamdi Obiaraeri, the retired director of the Department of Security Service, Nnaemeka Ngwu, and the director general of the Labour Party candidate for the Okigwe North Federal Constituency, Okey Unam, were all attacked during this time in the Ihube community of the Okigwe LGA.
When contacted, ASP Henry Okoye, a spokesman for the Imo State Police Command, informed our correspondent that the development was true.
