Government of Akwa Ibom and PDP deny congratulating Atiku on Tinubu’s CSU diploma
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State and Mr. Ekerete Udoh, the governor’s chief press secretary, have denied reports that the governor praised Atiku Abubakar for his involvement in the President Bola Tinubu phoney certificate scandal at Chicago State University.
During the PDP stakeholders meeting in the state on Tuesday, it was rumoured that Governor Eno praised Atiku for his work in revealing Tinubu’s purportedly bogus certificate.
However, the PDP claimed in a statement released by its publicity secretary, Borono Bassey, that the story was a malicious attempt to involve Eno and the party in a legal dispute that was already in the legal system.
He pointed out that the case was still pending and that neither the governor nor the PDP at the state level had the authority to make any comments.
He went on to say that the governor will just wait for the court’s decision because he is not a party to the lawsuit on record, emphasising that “he will join in the usual respectful and deferential chorus of “As the court pleases!”.”
Udoh, for his part, requested that the governor maintain his bipartisanship, claiming that the news was intended to defame the cordial relationship that exists between President Tinubu and his principal. He referred to Tinubu as the “father of the nation” in his statement.
The CPS claimed that no such problem as was unjustly reported by the anonymous reporter was ever brought up or addressed at the PDP Stakeholders’ meeting that took place yesterday and challenged the writers to show video proof of where the governor made such remarks. We ask the author to produce written proof of such discussions.
The fact that His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, does not partake in small conversation as a pastor is something we would like to emphasise once more. He respects established authorities and, as a bridge-builder who has worked with both parties since taking office, he would never partake in such political snarky discussions.
