Government Halts Market Operations in Central Lagos Following Fire Outbreak
Commercial activities in the central part of Lagos State have been halted by the government due to a recent fire incident at Idumota Market.
The fire, which began early on Tuesday, resulted in the destruction of two buildings and the loss of goods worth millions of naira.
Various areas, such as Dosumu, Nnamdi Azikwe, Moshalashi, Woro Pedro, Obanikoro, Ago Tawa, Idumagbo Avenue, Idumagbo, Ido-Oluwo, and Oju Olobun, have been affected by the suspension of commercial activities.
Bola Lawal, the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Central Business District, emphasized that this action was taken to prevent any loss of life and to maintain peace and order in the region.
Lawal also urged market traders in the area to cooperate with emergency responders to ensure that they can effectively carry out their duties.
