Gov. Zulum: Moving railway coaches out of Borno is unfair and suspicious

The recent attempt to move railway carriages out of Borno State and into other regions of Nigeria, according to the governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, was done in a dubious and unfair manner.

When visiting the train station in Maiduguri, the state capital, on Tuesday, the governor made this statement.

According to Zulum’s media assistant, Isa Gusau, the state government was not notified until locals stopped the coaches as they were moving.

He further stated that every legal means would be used to prevent the relocation of any state-owned infrastructure.

He claims that part of the rolling stock were transferred to other federation states roughly five months ago without the knowledge of the security personnel or the government of Borno State.

“This time, the people became alarmed when they observed the transportation of these rolling stock from Maiduguri to other regions of the nation.

“The rolling stocks would be taken to Jos for a comprehensive refurbishment and be despatched abroad,” he continued. “When we called the management of Nigerian Railway Corporation, they said.

The decision to move the rail facilities, according to Zulum, was “crudely pursued by Nigerian Railway Corporation.”

He promised that no one would remove any of the train infrastructures from the State without following the law and advised people of the community who had lately protested the development to maintain their composure and refrain from using force.
