Gov. Yusuf of Kano will begin demolishing structures on government property
Abba Kabir Yusuf, the governor of the state of Kano, began demolishing illicit structures on public land in the early hours of Saturday morning.
At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, a 3-story building with 90 stores on a race course by Filing Sukuwa, Nasarawa GRA, was brought down, becoming the first victim of the demolition campaign.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, an engineer by trade, lead the elimination of the unlawful building alongside the State Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Gumel, to demonstrate his commitment to the demolition operation.
Abba Kabir Yusuf, shortly after being proclaimed governor-elect, reportedly threatened to demolish state structures on public property.
This is the first demolition conducted since assuming office on May 29.
Also on Friday, the governor issued an order to the developer responsible for the Hajj Camp construction to cease construction.
All those who constructed structures on government land or illegally acquired land from the government are reportedly anxious about the repercussions of their actions.
