Gov Otti enforces limitations on the mobility of heavy-duty vehicles in Abia
The Abia State government has made heavy-duty vehicle traffic in Aba and Umuahia illegal from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in response to the tragic car accident that occurred at the Aba waterside bridge.
On Tuesday, a truck carrying containers failed to engage its brakes, smashing a tricycle and a Toyota Sienna car, killing four people and seriously wounding numerous more.

The state administration sent its sympathies to the families of the crash victims and hoped for a speedy recovery for the injured and eternal peace for the departed. In order to give the victims’ families the necessary support, it also said that it has made efforts to get in touch with them.
In Aba and Umuahia, heavy-duty vehicle travel was forbidden from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. by the administration of former governor Okezie Ikpeazu. But the heavy-duty truck drivers ignored the order as soon as he left the office.
The old rules prohibiting heavy-duty vehicle traffic inside the districts of Aba and Umuahia between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. have been reintroduced, the government declared in a statement signed by Mr. Dodoh Okafor, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communication.
