In the upcoming election for governor, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has pledged fairness, equity, and inclusivity.
For the State’s governorship race in 2024, Obaseki claimed he has not chosen an appointed candidate.
Speaking to reporters on Friday in Benin, the governor said: “It is not my place to now determine, appoint, or anoint any successor, but all I know is that in the process of seeking my successor, there must be fairness, equity, and a sense of inclusion because our goal is to keep Edo as one.”
Also revealed by Obaseki was his administration’s intention to end on a high note.
In order to complete all unfinished projects before the governorship election, he gave the assurance that this was his administration’s intention.
“That’s the only thing I can see as a potential concern, and we shouldn’t let that stop us, in my opinion.
The key for him and his government is to “finish strong and try to complete everything we told the Edo people we would do for them during our campaign.”
