Gov. Mbah advises youths to embrace leadership and entrepreneurship
The governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has counselled young people to adopt an innovative, entrepreneurial, and leadership mindset in order to advance both the state and Nigeria.
Mbah delivered the counsel on Saturday in Enugu at the Enugu Innovative Youths-organized 2024 Enugu Leadership and Business Summit.
“The Role Of Youths in Building A New Enugu” is the theme of the summit.
To help them realise their life goals, the governor encouraged the young people to strive for excellence and develop a lifelong learning attitude.
Speaking to the youths at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus summit, the governor praised their energy and said that the assembly demonstrated the extraordinary power that the youths possessed.

The governor, through Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, Secretary to the State Government, said that the theme struck a deep chord with their shared goals.
He said that this demonstrated how important it was for young people to change the course of Enugu State, whether by public service, activism, or business.
He exhorted them to embrace leadership, emphasising that it is an innate quality that one strives for rather than a title or position.
According to him, leadership starts with self-awareness, a dedication to integrity, empathy, and moral behaviour, and it does not end in the boardroom or in the legislative branch.
It is characterised by having the guts to take charge, the fortitude to overcome obstacles, and the compassion to encourage people around you.
“True leaders promote inclusivity, foster trust, and give others authority.”
As you move up the achievement ladder, don’t forget to encourage people around you.
This is due to the fact that genuine greatness is determined by the beneficial effects one has on others rather than by the recognition one receives personally.
“You can make a difference and your contribution matters.” The world is waiting for you to take the lead; the time is now,” Mbah continued.
In a lecture titled “A Limitless Potentials of Enugu Youth,” Mr. Chimaobi Atu, a member representing the Enugu North and South Federal Constituency, advised the youth to embrace innovation and develop digital skills and networking.
He claimed that by doing this, they would be better able to unlock their own potential and solve the difficult problems that society faces.
During his speech on “Youths and Drug Abuse,” Mr. Nnolim Nnaji, the member representing Nkanu East and West Federal Constituency, also mentioned that drug addiction had a negative socioeconomic impact and jeopardised the future of young people.
But he counselled them against abusing drugs in any way so that they could create the kind of stable society that the nation and state had long desired.
