Gov Lawal reveals the shocking details of how Bashir Hadejia forged an appointment letter to claim a special adviser position.

In no uncertain terms, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State refuted allegations that he recruited Bashir Hadejia, a suspected terrorist and firearms smuggler, to serve as a Special Adviser in his government.

Last week, Hadejia was apprehended for purportedly committing treason and subverting the state.

Online circulation of a letter dated October 27, 2023, alleging that Hadejia secured an official appointment and purportedly bearing the signature of Mal Abubakar M. Nakwada – Secretary to the Zamfara State Government – was met with controversy.

During an interview on Politics Today of Channels Television, Governor Lawal disclaimed the authenticity of the letter and labeled it as a fake.

Lawal was resolute in declaring, “Hadejia wasn’t selected as a Special Adviser.” He also raised doubts about the letter’s validity by pointing out inconsistencies in both its heading and date. Lawal emphasized that he typically notifies the press when appointing advisers, challenging anyone to provide evidence of such an announcement.

Aside from tackling the appointment issue, the governor highlighted significant advancements in terms of state security which have enabled farmers to safely resume their agricultural activities. He underscored how concerted efforts with both the National Security Adviser and Ministry of Defense are presently underway to finally confront longstanding insecurity issues plaguing this region.

Lawal explained that the problem of insecurity is an inheritance spanning over a decade, and cannot be resolved instantly.
