Gov Fubara to Officially Swear in Newly Elected Rivers Local Govt Chairmen Today

Governor Siminalayi Fubara will swear in newly elected local government chairmen in Rivers State today. The ceremony follows the conclusion of the local government polls. Learn more about the event.

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is set to officially induct the newly elected local government chairmen today, Sunday, October 6th, 2024.

According to a statement from the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, the ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Executive Council Chambers in Government House, Port Harcourt.

The announcement from October 6, 2024, indicated that each chairman and one guest should be seated by 3:30 p.m. for the event.

The statement reads: “His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, the Governor of Rivers State, will on Sunday, October 6th, 2024 at 4 PM swear in the newly elected Council Chairmen at the Executive Council Chambers in Government House located in Port Harcourt.”

The newly elected Chairmen, each accompanied by one guest, should be seated by 3:30 PM.

Remember that Justice Adolphus Enebeli (retired), Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, announced 22 chairmanship candidates from the Action Peoples Party as winners in the local government elections held on October 5.

In Port Harcourt on Saturday, Justice Enebeli, who also acted as the Chief Electoral Commissioner for the election, declared that the candidates obtained a majority of valid votes in two-thirds of the wards within their respective local governments.

He added that the results for the chairmanship in Etche Local Government were withheld due to delays in collating data from its 19 wards, given the large size of the area.
