On Sunday, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State led the swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected chairpersons of all 23 local government councils in the state.
The inauguration was attended by Senator Bala Mohammed, who is the Governor of Bauchi State and also serves as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum.
The local government election in Rivers State took place on Saturday throughout the entire state.
According to the results released by the State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), the Action Peoples Party secured victory in 22 of the 23 local government areas.

Justice Adolphus Enebeli, the Chief Election Officer of RSIEC, revealed this on Saturday in Port Harcourt, the capital of the state.
During the results announcement, Enebeli stated that the declaration was put on hold in Etche Local Government Area since the collation of results was still underway.
Enebeli explained that the results for Etche LGA and the 319 councillorship positions would be announced once collation is complete.
RSIEC subsequently announced Uzordinma Nwafor from the Action Alliance as the winner of the election in Etche Local Government Area.
