Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, begged Nyesom Wike, the man who succeeded him, to remain in touch with him even if he switched sides politically.

This was stated by Fubara on Sunday at Wike’s private home on Ada-George Road during a Thanksgiving reception.

I know the sharks and tigers are really around hunting for something to hurt, so please don’t stay too far from me while we are seeing indicators that it seems like you want to cross over to the other side with everyone desiring that.

For the sake of this state, Fubara explained, “so being around would continue to lead and put my head straight.”

His appeal comes amid speculation that Wike may defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In place of his party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Wike opted to back Bola Tinubu of the APC, who was ultimately declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election.
