Gov Fubara praises Wike on his 56th birthday amidst Rivers crisis
Despite the impeachment plan against him causing a crisis in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Governor Siminalayi Fubara congratulated his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, on his 56th birthday anniversary on Wednesday.
Wike is called “Oga” by Fubara, who is in a competition with his predecessor in the oil-rich South-South.

On his verified account on X (previously Twitter), the governor posted a birthday message that read, “Your Excellency, my dear wife and I, and the good people of Rivers State, join your family and friends to facilitate you on this day.”
About two months after a fire destroyed the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex, the structure was razed on Wednesday under heavy security.
At roughly 6:45 a.m., Governor Siminalayi Fubara led a convoy of roughly ten bulldozers into the Assembly grounds on heavy-duty flatbed lorries to begin the demolition operation.
At the Government House, the moment the demolition was taking place, the governor later gave the Edison Ehie-led group the N800 billion 2024 budget estimates.
The court accepted Ehie as the Speaker of the House and ordered Martins Amaewhule to stop impersonating the speaker.
House loyalists for Ehie were in attendance for the budget presentation. There was an absence of all the lawmakers who had just switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tensions between Fubara and Nyesom Wike, his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, have been the root of the conflict in the 32-member Assembly.
