Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has authorised a N100,000 Christmas bonus for all state employees.
The statement was made in Port Harcourt by Warisenibo Johnson, the Commissioner for Information and Communications.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Labour Congress, or NLC, has taken a spiritual turn amidst the political unrest in the state. The Union is praying that there won’t be any evil scheme to overthrow the governor.
Regarding Fubara’s Christmas bonus, Commissioner Johnson stated that the governor had directed that all government servants receive the bonus immediately in order to provide them with a great holiday season.
He declared: “Sir Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has authorised a N100,000 Christmas bonus for the State’s public servants.
“On Tuesday, Governor Fubara approved the implementation immediately so that the civil officials may enjoy a nice holiday celebration.”
Labour offers prayers for him.
In response, Mr. Alex Agwanwo, the state chairman of the NLC, praised the governor for making the state’s government servants happy.
He pledged that employees will back the administration’s initiatives and plans.
Agwanwo pointed out that state employees had not been recognised for improved wellbeing for more than eight years.
It’s a positive development, he declared. I’ve had multiple calls from employees since the memo was released last night, and you can tell how happy they are.
This has never been done before, but it’s occurring now after eight years. We shall so keep on supporting the governor in all of his endeavours and initiatives.
“He demonstrated that he is a civil servant who advanced to the position of governor through the ranks.”The governor arrived by himself and took this action, even in the absence of our exerting any pressure on him. We wish to show our gratitude to him.
“We ask God to keep him safe and in that position. Nothing that is forged against him will succeed.
“Rivers State employees will stick together and support one another during good times and bad. He has shown us that he is one of us, so we will support him.
“And no matter what, we will defend our own.”
