Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has chosen to appoint Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, the former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, as his new Chief of Staff. Ehie, who is a close ally of Fubara, will be taking over from Hon.

Chidi Amadi, who is related to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

This decision has raised questions about Ehie’s political intentions, especially since he resigned from his position as Speaker and member representing Ahoada-East Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

It is worth noting that during a peace meeting convened by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a resolution was reached recognizing Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule as the Speaker of the House, but there was no provision requiring Ehie to vacate his seat as a member of the House.
