Senator Douye Diri, the governor of Bayelsa State, extends his congratulations to the nation’s Muslims for celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
He emphasised that the Feast of Eid-el-Maulud is a celebration of love and a time to consider the Prophet’s teachings on unity, compassion, and peace in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah.
He urged Muslims in the state to always try to look out for one another, to practise practical love, and to promote peaceful coexistence.
“I felicitate with my Muslim brothers in the state and throughout Nigeria on this auspicious occasion of the celebration of the Feast of Eid-el-Maulud,” the statement said.
“As you commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad, it is also a good moment to think about his lofty ideals and his teachings on compassion, love, and peace.
“I beg religious followers to show real love, patriotism, and to ensure peaceful coexistence with others. This is the time of year when the ideals of good neighbourliness and brotherly love are most clearly seen.
All still have a residence in Bayelsa. According to the Nigerian Constitution, it is a state where everyone is allowed to freely practise their religion without interference or permission. Additionally, our administration has consistently supported the right to freedom of organisation and religion.
“As the November 11 governorship election draws near, let us abstain from any acts of violence and keep up the state’s current tranquilly.
“May this Eid celebration bring you all greater prosperity and joy, as well as to our state.”
