Gov Bago Takes Action After Redeemed Church Burned by Hoodlums
Gov Bago has taken decisive action, issuing a major directive following the arson attack on a Redeemed Church by hoodlums.
The incendiary assault on the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Kontagora, carried out by unknown perpetrators during the early hours of Saturday morning was strongly condemned by Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State.
Through his Special Adviser on Print Media, Aisha Wakaso, Bago issued a statement denouncing the act as “senseless and cowardly.”
Reports indicate that the perpetrators not only ransacked the church but also set fire to it, resulting in complete destruction of the property situated on FCE Road in Kontagora.

The governor stressed that the church’s destruction is a clear threat to the peace and harmony of the state, impacting not only Christians but also society at large.
Bago stated that this kind of violence is not acceptable and it goes against our joint pledge to uphold safety, security and religious liberty.
As a reaction, Bago has instructed security agencies to expedite their investigation of the occurrence.
He gave his word that the individuals accountable for the assault will be caught and made to face legal consequences.
Residents of Kontagora were urged by the governor to stay composed and refrain from retaliating. The significance of sustaining peace and unity was emphasized. Moreover, he guaranteed that his government would implement appropriate courses of action to protect worship centers while averting similar occurrences in subsequent times.
Bago urged state residents to stay alert and notify the authorities of any unusual behavior in order to thwart future violence. He pledged his dedication towards providing assistance to the church community impacted by this incident while also safeguarding their welfare.
