Gov. Ayade cancels the Calabar Carnival and orders a murder probe
Governor Ben Ayade has ordered the cancellation of a portion of the Calabar Carnival in response to the alleged mayhem that broke out in the city, which may have resulted in up to ten fatalities and more than 20 injuries.
The governor also ordered an immediate probe into the event in a prompt press release signed by his chief press secretary and media adviser, Barrister Christian Ita.
While expressing sympathy to the accident victims and their families, the governor ordered an immediate investigation to determine how the driver managed to get past security barriers and access roads that were off-limits to the general public.

According to Ita, the governor ordered that the motorcycle parade held in memory of the accident victims end right now.
Governor Ayade asked for calm while promising to find the person who did it and bring them to justice.
Allegedly, a careless driver struck a crowd that had gathered along the carnival route to witness the bikers’ march.
Ita says that Governor Ayade is sad and upset about what happened and has asked security officials to find the driver who got away.
