This has led to the establishment of separate party offices in the state capital, Makurdi. To resolve the impasse, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party instructed both factions to withdraw all lawsuits within seven days for the purpose of reconciliation.
One faction, led by Comrade Austin Agada, complied with the directive and withdrew its case before High Court 4 in Makurdi.
However, the faction led by Comrade Benjamin Omakolo proceeded to inaugurate new executives at the party’s secretariat near the Government House in Makurdi.
The ceremony was attended by Paul Biam, Chief of Staff to Governor Hyacinth Alia, who described the event as a historic moment in the state’s politics, emphasizing the unity of purpose within the party.
Biam reiterated that there can only be one leader of the party, who is the governor, and expressed full support for the new executives.
Additionally, six National Assembly members and the state’s ALGON chairman and caretaker chairman of Konshisha LGA pledged their loyalty to the Omakolo-led executives, emphasizing their commitment to the APC and the progress of the state.
