Speaking to the newly inaugurated local government officials, Adeleke stated that this event represents the realization of what the state’s citizens have strived to accomplish.

Reflecting on the journey up to this point, he noted that it marks the final phase of a process that started a year ago.

I urge you to become catalysts for change, community builders, or contributors to the benefits of democracy.

Adeleke assured, “We are committed to your success. The well-being of the people will always remain our priority.”

He expressed gratitude to the Osun electoral commission and praised the security agencies and state officials for their role in making the exercise successful.

Adeleke also conveyed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for preventing Osun State from falling into chaos.

“I assure the President of my dedication to upholding the rule of law,” he stated.

Addressing the newly inaugurated local government officials, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde extended his congratulations and reminded them to uphold the promises they made during their campaigns.

“This is your chance to make an impact at the grassroots level, serving as a foundation for advancing to higher positions. Hard work will open up even more opportunities for you.”

Makinde, expressing shock at the violence that erupted in the state on Monday, February 17, 2025, stated he felt compelled to visit and issue a warning to prevent history from repeating itself.

“We want to avoid a ‘wild wild West’ scenario and keep them out of this area. Our goal is to peacefully deliver the benefits of democracy to the people.”

“They should avoid taking matters into their own hands, even if a court decision is in place. They must remember that having federal power doesn’t mean this situation aligns with a federal framework. I’ll leave it at that.”

Previously, the Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), Barrister Hashim Abioye, awarded Certificates of Return to the elected chairmen.

The OSSIEC chairman congratulated the newly elected chairmen on their success and encouraged them to serve as exemplary representatives of democracy, both in their behavior and commitment to serving the people.

On Saturday, OSSIEC declared the candidates from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as winners for all 332 councillorship positions and all 30 local government chairmanship seats in the state.
