The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, almost missed death in an event that took place at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos on Tuesday. The Federal Government has responded.

According to OBASANJONEWS24, a private jet belonging to millionaire businessman Adedeji Adeleke, the older brother of the governor and the paternal grandfather of well-known Nigerian artist Davido, caught fire on Tuesday at the MMIA’s domestic wing take-off point.

The Bombardier Global Express 605 jet accident was confirmed on Sunday by the Aviation Minister, Mr. Festus Keyamo, who was quoted in a statement by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Captain Musa Nuhu.

The minister added that the event happened while the governor and his staff were aboard the plane on a routine travel to Abuja.

“After being informed, the Honourable Minister contacted the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and was given the necessary information. In line with Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (http://Nig.CARS), a required report was delivered on September 6, 2023.

“The operator submitted the report via the new web-based National Aviation Safety Reporting System, SMS Pro, deployed by NCAA in collaboration with the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), in accordance with the requirements of the ICAO-mandated State Safety Programme and the Civil Aviation Act 2022. Since then, a thorough inquiry of the occurrence has been launched.

The Minister expressed relief that no one was hurt, but he also gave his word that the NCAA’s findings and suggestions would be carried out.

The statement said, “The Honourable Minister has indicated that safety of the aviation industry is the number one aim of his administration.
