Despite losing against Sporting Lagos, Gombe United’s general manager, Abubakar Abubakar Yellow, praised the team’s players and coaching staff.
On Monday, the Savannah Scorpions opened the new campaign with a 2-0 loss to the guests at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos.
Before their games on Sunday’s matchday two, Yellow implored the players to put the loss behind them.
At the Pantami Stadium, Gombe United and Enyimba, the current Nigeria Premier Football League champions, will square off.
He told the club’s reporters, “Football is a game of win and loss, there’s no denying that. You guys did show a lot of potential throughout the game, even though you missed several chances.
“We must move past the setback and prepare for the match against Enyimba in Gombe on matchday two.”
