The Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, has filed petitions challenging the results of the local government elections that were held on April 27, 2024, and the Gombe State Local Government Election Petition Tribunal has scheduled a follow-up hearing for July 9.
PDP had submitted a petition contesting the election results of All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy chairman Muhammad Adamu and Gombe Local Government chairman Sani Haruna, as well as the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission (GSIEC).
In addition, the PDP candidate for Billiri Local Government filed a lawsuit against Mrs. Egla Idris, the announced winner.
Journalists have access to the PDP petition, which asks for a number of reliefs, one of which is a ruling that the GSIEC’s April 27, 2024 election was void because of irregularities, corrupt practices, and legal violations.
