Due to the meager allocation given to Gombe State, Governor Inuwa Yahaya states that fulfilling the N70,000 minimum wage requirement will prove arduous.
An agreement with joint labour unions led to President Bola Tinubu’s recent assent of the minimum wage.
On Tuesday, during a meeting with stakeholders at the banquet hall of Gombe Government House regarding the proposed nationwide #Endbadgovernance protest, Yahaya announced that he is unable to meet the N70,000 minimum wage and suspects that numerous other states are also facing this challenge.

Yahaya praised the Federal Government for its efforts in donating rice to Gombe State, but expressed worry about the tardiness of receiving vital provisions within the area.
“We have not yet received the 20 trucks of rice from the Federal Government to Gombe State,” he clarified.
He highlighted the government’s dedication to assisting its populace, referring to past dispensation of relief materials and current investments in enhancing human capital development, education, healthcare as well as agriculture.
Yahaya emphasized the significance of peaceful and well-organized behavior during protests, recognizing civil society organizations, labor unions, and traders for their contributions to social stability and economic resilience. He shared his thoughts on the upcoming national protest as well.
He appealed for ongoing coordination and discussion as a group to steer through the difficult period.
