He, consequently, urged Nigerian leaders to wisely utilize the country’s plentiful resources for national development.
During the 40th anniversary celebration of the Methodist Archdiocese of Abuja in Abuja on Sunday, Obasanjo highlighted that Nigeria possesses all it requires to succeed.
Obasanjo reiterated the message of Methodist Prelate, Dr. Oliver Aba, highlighting the significance of being grateful for God’s blessings.
Just as God created other nations, providing them with resources, He also blessed Nigeria with abundant resources for development.
Just as Egypt boasts the River Nile, Nigeria is rich with the Rivers Niger and Benue, along with crude oil, fertile soil, and a variety of other natural resources.
I strongly believe that God did not intend for Nigeria to struggle. He has provided us with everything we need, and it is our responsibility to be grateful, particularly since many other countries do not have what Nigeria possesses.
Obasanjo called on leaders, clergy, and citizens to pray for the healing of the country, emphasizing that Nigeria’s current situation is not due to any fault of God.
We have misused the gifts from God, but if we approach Him with humility and earnestness, He will restore our land.
President Bola Tinubu, through the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, praised the Methodist Church Nigeria for its dedication to social justice, education, and humanitarian efforts.
In his message of goodwill, Tinubu commended the Methodist Church Nigeria for its groundbreaking leadership and significant vision.

In his message titled “Our Appreciation and Gratitude to God,” Methodist Church Prelate Dr. Oliver Aba highlighted the significance of expressing gratitude to God even during difficult times.
Referring to Luke 17:15-17, he mentioned the story of Jesus healing ten lepers, highlighting that only one came back to express gratitude.
Aba remarked that Nigeria’s challenges needed divine intervention, encouraging people to remain calm and maintain faith.
Everyone has their own reasons for seeking God. Nigeria, take heart; there is hope ahead. We have a promised land to look forward to.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the service recognized distinguished individuals with the Knights of John Wesley award. Among those honored were Obasanjo, Gowon, Tinubu and his wife Oluremi Tinubu, Goodluck Jonathan, George Akume, and Godswill Akpabio.
Other recipients included David Mark, Wale Edun, Oluwatoyin, among others.
