Ghana’s Black Stars are considering relocating their home matches for the AFCON Qualifiers to Nigeria. Find out why this move could happen and its implications.
The possibility of a relocation has arisen following the withdrawal of approval by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for using Kumasi’s Baba Yara Stadium.
Due to various concerns discovered during a recent stadium inspection, including subpar turf coverage, faulty drainage and an uneven playing field, CAF has decided to revoke its endorsement of the venue.
Not only the Baba Yara Stadium, but other major stadiums in Ghana like Cape Coast Stadium and Accra Sports Stadium are also reportedly grappling with maintenance challenges.
