Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum, an entrepreneur from Ghana, recently made an impressive attempt to break a world record for continuous singing. Starting on Christmas Eve in Accra, the capital of Ghana, she embarked on a five-day ‘sing-a-thon’ that concluded on Friday, after an astonishing 126 hours and 52 minutes of nonstop singing. Throughout the event, Asantewaa showcased her talent by performing local songs, receiving immense support from fellow Ghanaians, including former President John Dramani Mahama and current Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia, who are both vying for the country’s highest office in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Asantewaa’s remarkable achievement has reportedly surpassed the previous record set by India’s Sunil Waghmare in 2012, who sang for 105 hours. What makes Asantewaa’s feat even more impressive is the fact that she is not a professional singer, leading to initial doubts from some Ghanaians on social media regarding her ability to accomplish such a challenging task. However, she proved her critics wrong by unofficially surpassing the previous record holder’s time by an additional 21 hours, solidifying her place in the history books.
