Gernot Rohr Backs Lookman for 2024 African Men’s Player of the Year Award
Former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr expresses confidence in Ademola Lookman’s chances of clinching the 2024 African Men’s Player of the Year award, praising his stellar performances.
Gernot Rohr, the former head coach of the Super Eagles, has predicted that Ademola Lookman will win the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
Lookman is the clear frontrunner to win the award after an outstanding season with both his club and national team.
The other contenders for the prestigious award include Serhou Guirassy, Achraf Hakimi, Rowen Williams, and Simon Adingra.
Rohr is convinced that Lookman has earned the title of Africa’s best player.
Rohr told Foot Africa, “He has achieved significant progress. His challenging initial seasons in England and Germany are now behind him, and he has successfully risen to the occasion.”
“A few years back, I watched him with the Super Eagles. He transitioned from being in the shadows to stepping into the spotlight. Now, he is a well-rounded player, equally skilled at providing assists as he is at scoring goals.”
The 2024 Awards ceremony will be held in Marrakech, Morocco next Monday.
