Germany has ordered the dissolution of a pro-Palestine organisation accused of disseminating anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli beliefs, and it has declared a total ban on the operations of the Palestinian organisation Hamas.

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, who has already classified Hamas as a “terrorist” organisation in her nation, announced in a statement on Thursday that she had officially banned any action by or on behalf of the organisation.

Faeser declared, “Together with Hamas, I have today totally banned the activities of a terrorist organisation whose goal is to destroy the state of Israel.”

A Hamas representative in Lebanon stated that the action demonstrated that the nation was cooperating with Israel to commit crimes against the Palestinian people.

Osama Hamdan, the representative of Hamas in Lebanon, stated at a press conference on Thursday that “this prompts us to question whether the German political mentality is a Holocaust mentality that affects all peoples and is not limited to one party or another.”

The German section of the Samidoun network, which Faeser claimed “supports and glorifies” organisations like Hamas, is likewise being banned and dissolved.

On October 12, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz declared that the government would move against both organisations.

On October 7, a group of people celebrated Hamas’s attack on Israel by passing out pastries in a Berlin street. This event was organised by Samidoun. Israeli officials claim that the attack claimed the lives of at least 1,400 persons, the majority of whom were civilians.

“It is especially sickening to see Samidoun’s antisemitic, inhumane worldview demonstrated through spontaneous ‘jubilant celebrations’ here in Germany in response to Hamas’s terrible terrorist attacks against Israel,” Faeser stated, as reported by Deutsche Welle.

Israel has intensified its embargo of Gaza after the attack, cutting off fuel supplies and severely limiting access to food, water, and electricity. Israel has also been bombing Gaza nonstop.
