I’m grateful for the chance to strengthen our business ties. We have a history in Nigeria and your market is distinct.
In an effort to further deepen economic connections between the two countries, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will travel to Nigeria in October.
This was stated in a statement made on Sunday night by presidential aide Ajuri Ngelale. He claimed that President Bola Tinubu and the German leader met on the eve of the G-20 summit in New Delhi, India, and came to an agreement.
“Dear Mr. President, I want to thank you for this crucial dialogue. The chance to strengthen our business ties is something I value. Following Tinubu’s declaration that he wanted to further the relationship between the two nations, Scholz was cited as adding, “Your market is unique, and our companies have a history in Nigeria.
We thank you for implementing reforms that are beneficial to business. We can move these projects forward if I visit you in Nigeria in October, as I am glad to inform you of.
For his part, President Tinubu said: “It is not just an issue of constructing the financial infrastructure for a wider economic relationship for us.
“It is also about the practicality of bringing your large-scale manufacturers’ perspectives—like Volkswagen and others—into line with the reality of the new incentives my government is putting in place for them to come and prosper across multiple value chains and sectors inside of our country,” the president continued.
Following his discussion with the German leader, Tinubu also spoke with his South Korean counterpart, Yoon Suk Yeol, who praised the President’s regional leadership.
We see a stable country in West Africa that is becoming more respected, and I want to praise your outstanding leadership following the peaceful transition of power from your predecessor to you, he said.
Therefore, Tinubu pushed for greater Chinese involvement in Nigeria, particularly in the country’s industrial industry.
There won’t be any loose ends. All agreements will be finalised and put into action. In order to quickly implement MoUs in a variety of partnership sectors that will involve the active participation of your largest companies—not just in terms of Nigerian consumption but also in local Nigerian production, from telecommunications to technology and oil & gas—we will work closely with you on each individual issue’, Tinubu continued.
