As a loyal Nigerian, former President Olusegun Obasanjo spoke to the late Ohanaeze leader George Obiozor.
He said that while serving as Nigeria’s ambassador to Israel and the United States of America, Obiozor raised the nation’s international status.
According to a statement by his spokesperson, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo received a phone call on Wednesday informing him of Chief Obiozor’s passing.
Former Ethiopian President (1999-2007) and African Union (AU) High Representative to the Horn of Africa is currently in Ethiopia.
Obasanjo said that the dead man’s work as an ambassador to Israel and the U.S. was a good addition to what his government was doing to improve Nigeria’s reputation.
“Ambassador Obiozor will be remembered with affection and pride as a leading proponent of multilateralism, a learned scholar, a fervent nationalist, and a diplomatic legend of renown on a global scale. He was a real Nigerian and an idol.
Obasanjo said that the retired ambassador was a peacemaker, a loyal citizen, and a strong supporter of democratic and participatory government.

The previous leader of the country took note of Obiozor’s impressive background and how much his people loved and supported him.
He accepted the position of Ohanaeze Ndigbo President because of his unwavering love for his people and his desire to serve them by attending to and fighting for their needs.
Obasanjo stated that until his death, Obiozor was committed to the advancement of Igbos and the south-east of Nigeria.
The statement continued, “He still had much to contribute to communal and national life, but we can take some comfort in the knowledge that he left his stamp indelible on whatever he was called upon to do.”
