The winner of the Surulere Federal Constituency 1 bye-election has been announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Faud Laguda, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged victorious with a total of 11,203 votes. Laguda, who previously served as the chairman of APC in the Surulere Local Government, will be replacing Femi Gbajabiamila, who was appointed as Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.

Gbajabiamila, who had been the Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023, won his re-election for the Surulere 1 Federal Constituency in the February 25 National Assembly election before his appointment as Chief of Staff. His resignation from the House of Representatives in June led to a bye-election in Surulere Constituency 1 to fill the vacant seat.
