European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell expressed his concerns about the way Israel is conducting its military operations against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, stating that it is sowing seeds of hatred for future generations.

Borrell emphasized that while Hamas’ actions are condemned, peace and stability cannot be achieved solely through military means, especially not in the manner currently employed. He also criticized the high number of civilian casualties in Gaza, highlighting the dire humanitarian situation with countless people lacking basic necessities and living under constant threat. Israel, on the other hand, has accused Hamas of deliberately endangering civilians by operating in residential areas and tunnels.

The fighting between the two sides continues, with Israeli airstrikes targeting Hamas militants in various regions of Gaza. The situation remains tense and the toll on civilian lives continues to rise.

Netanyahu, the Israeli leader, has rejected a proposal by Hamas to bring an end to the ongoing war. He firmly stated that he refuses to accept the terms presented by Hamas, which include the release of hostages, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and the release of convicted criminals. Netanyahu emphasized his rejection of Hamas’ demands, referring to them as “monsters.”

On the other hand, Hamas defended their attack on Israel, acknowledging some faults but calling for an end to Israeli aggression in Gaza.

They claimed that their actions were necessary to combat the Israeli occupation and secure the release of Palestinian prisoners. In a previous agreement brokered by the United States, Qatar, and Egypt, a portion of the hostages were freed in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners.

However, pressure has been mounting on Netanyahu to secure the release of the remaining hostages. While some world leaders have called for an immediate cease-fire, President Joe Biden has not taken that stance.

Netanyahu has also taken a strong position against Palestinian statehood, while Biden and other American officials have advocated for it. Despite facing international and internal pressures, Netanyahu remains steadfast in his position on Palestinian statehood and Israeli security control.
