Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, a candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Kano State governorship election held on March 18, has declared that he is fearless of the appeal that will challenge the tribunal’s decision to uphold his victory.
The APC had been pronounced the winner of the election and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had been removed by the Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday.
A certificate of return for Gawuna was ordered to be issued, and a certificate of return for Yusuf was ordered to be withdrawn by the three-person panel.
The 165,663 votes were taken away from Yusuf’s total by the court, who stated that the 165,663 ballots were not stamped or signed and were therefore illegitimate.
Gawuna expressed his gratitude to Allah for our victory in the Kano State election, which the court confirmed today (Wednesday), in an interview with BBC Hausa. He also commented on the tribunal’s ruling. He chose us to be the leaders, and I thank Him for that. Additionally, I acknowledge the prayers and support of the public and our attorneys.
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), he pointed out, had the legal right to appeal the election results in court, which they did, but they believed Allah had already determined the outcome. The NNPP had initially been named the election’s victor.
Whatever happens to them, they believe it is Allah’s will, according to Gawuna, who emphasised that no one who believes that nothing happens without Allah’s will ever worries or views governance as a life-or-death matter.
We are not intimidated or afraid, he claimed, because we understand that everything will work out for the best. The Almighty is perfect.
Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Kano State’s governor on March 18th, has declared that he is unafraid of the appeal that will question the validity of his victory at the tribunal.
The Kano Governorship poll Petition Tribunal had ousted Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and pronounced the APC the victor of the poll on Wednesday.
Gawuna will receive a certificate of return, while Yusuf’s certificate of return will be withdrawn, according to the three-person panel’s ruling.
The court took into account the fact that 165,663 ballots were not stamped or signed and were therefore invalid, taking those 165,663 votes out of Yusuf’s total.
Gawuna stated in an interview with BBC Hausa, in response to the tribunal’s ruling, “I am grateful to Allah for our victory in the Kano State election, which was upheld by the court today (Wednesday).” I give Him thanks for His will in putting us in charge. I likewise acknowledge the prayers and assistance of the people and our solicitors.
He mentioned that although the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) was first proclaimed the election’s victor, they believed Allah had already decided the result and asserted their right to contest the results in court, which they did.
According to Gawuna, anyone who believes that nothing occurs without Allah’s will never worries or views politics as a life-or-death situation. He further emphasised that they feel that whatever happens to them is Allah’s will.
He asserted, “We are not intimidated or afraid because we understand that whatever occurs will be for the best. Allah is perfect and never errs.
