Eight people were injured, and four rooms were impacted. The firefighters used their expert firefighting skills to control and put out the fire, even though it was extremely fierce.

After some research, it was discovered that a local gas station employee was refuelling a gas cylinder that was several metres above the ground.

Gas was released from the charged replenishing hose at the same time that the cylinder collapsed and burst. This made the fire worse, injuring the gas attendant as well as seven students from Kwara State Polytechnic.

The representative went on to say that N14.6 million worth of property was damaged in the fire.
