All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje has not yet contacted Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf about joining the ruling party, according to Sunusi Bature Dawakin, Director-General of Media and Publicity in the governor’s office.

Recall that Yusuf was asked by Ganduje to leave the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and join the All Progressives (APC).
“We are appealing to those who want to join APC to come,” Ganduje had stated. We are specifically inviting the Kano governor and his NNPP to join the APC.
Dawakin responded by claiming that the governor was solely aware of the invitation through social media.
He emphasised that Ganduje should speak with the governor via the appropriate channels.
“We learned about the invitation on social media, but Dr Ganduje, as a former governor and deputy governor, knows more than any other person how to send a message to an incumbent governor, appropriately,” Dawakin said in an interview with BBC Hausa.
Dawakin continued, saying that the governor has not made known that NNPP would be dumped for APC.
This is occurring in the midst of rumours that President Bola Tinubu intends to mediate a settlement between Ganduje and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate, before to the 2027 elections.
Before the 2023 elections, Kwankwaso and Yusuf defected to the NNPP, where they each ran for governor and president, respectively.
