Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje issued a directive on Monday requiring all public servants with political appointments to transfer control of their offices in accordance with established protocol.
A declaration headed “Handover of Activities” from the Secretary’s office to the State Government, with the permanent secretary’s signature, Hajiya Bilkisu Maimota, included the instruction.
All commissioners, special advisers, chief executives of parastatals and government-owned corporations, and other political appointees received a directive from Ganduje to turn over administration and general services in their respective institutions to the permanent secretaries and directors.
The Governor ordered that any government assets held by the appointees be turned over to permanent secretaries or, in the latest instance, directors of administration and general services/directors of personnel management (DPM) by May 26.
He further instructed them that a copy of their handover notes should be sent to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government for records.
